The porn industry in Iran has always been a taboo and hidden subject because of the Islamic root. the first erotic images appeared after the arrival of cameras in Iran. Before the existence of the camera, artists used to show the erotic part of art in poems and drawings, but they were always hidden because they were considered bad by people. At the time, Persian opinion on eroticism was very different from European opinion.
When we go through time and see the images of today, we realize that this invention has had an impact on the appearance, culture and aesthetics of the female body. We can therefore consider the camera as a bridge that opened the door for this country to get closer to Western culture. Before the QR that takes you here, you see sheets with Persian poems and ancient paintings that are fading, this is how artists showed an erotic aspect in their masterpieces. but if we go up the stairs we can see a studio full of erotic photos that was presented in a modern conceptual way, that's what happened after the appearance of cameras in Iran (which was at the time Qajar). The invention of the camera was like a bridge that allowed Iran to connect to the modern world and gave its traditional culture a European flavor. it was progress for a country in the Middle East, but as we can see that the space is open from the ceiling, we therefore have the idea that it is not not the end yet...
The collage I am presenting today is a conceptual image that presents this idea, the stairs that connect ancient Iran with elements like the paintings which were inspired by a Salvador Dali painting, to the new modern country which been affected by a new culture.
